“Good finds, good times,” Elmhurst City Centre’s catchphrase, can apply to any of Elmhurst’s shopping districts that offer a vast array of goods and services. Anchored by the 10-screen York Theatre (built in 1924), downtown Elmhurst is a full-service business district featuring a mix of national, regional and hometown retailers providing goods, services, food and entertainment.
The Spring Road and York & Vallette business districts, connected by the Illinois Prairie Path, attract customers citywide, while serving the needs of their neighborhoods.
Other shopping areas are located along Route 83 at St. Charles Road (Elmhurst Crossing) and North Avenue, North York Street, Grand Avenue, Lake Street and Butterfield Road.
Restaurants throughout the city serve both American cuisine and ethnic delicacies, including Italian, German, Irish, Mexican, Thai and Chinese. On St. Patrick’s Day (and year-round), parade revelers have their choice of Irish establishments to patronize.
