Enjoy the waves along the Columbia River while waterskiing, windsurfing, fishing, boating or swimming. Hermiston’s parks promise endless amusement and activity. Four lighted soccer fields, hiking trails, a picnic shelter and a community-built funland playground is not all Butte Park has to offer in its 40 acres. Located within the park, the Hermiston Family Aquatic Center caters to all ages. Exciting slides and toys throughout the center make a day in the sun a refreshing experience. Exercise classes provide a low impact workout and swim classes teach safety and technique.

Take a stroll through the trees at Belt Park’s arboretum or view the natural scenery from the gazebo. Riverfront Park encompasses 16 acres composed of picnic shelters, fishing access, walking paths, health and exercise equipment and a non-motorized boat launch. The four acres of Newport Park feature a lighted Little League field for night games and three lighted basketball courts for shooting hoops after dark.

Northside Playground is a great stop for a game of basketball or a trip down the slide. Theatre Sports Park contains two sand volleyball courts, youth football and soccer fields and two adult softball fields, all on 13 acres. McKenzie Park’s cook shack makes a great spot for a barbecue; the skate park has people rolling in; the gazebo provides a quiet respite.

Just a quick trip from the Maxwell Siding railroad display is Hodge Park. Stop by for a sand volleyball battle. Take a trip to Sunset Playground or Highland Park or any of Hermiston’s many parks to enjoy nature and frolic in the playground.
